Artist Statement

Isabelle Taylor Bernstein

My creativity is the main pillar of my personality, dictating every aspect of my life. Ever since childhood, I have found true freedom and bliss in the Arts. Acting is my greatest passion. Embodying a role, essentially becoming the art itself, is a thrill I long for constantly. Acting challenges me to look beyond myself and understand another person at their core. As a performer, acting has become the most transcendent form of expression for me, bringing written works into the physical plane and better immersing audiences in a story.

I also love creating art outside of performance. I paint, draw in my sketchbook, crochet, knit, sew clothes, and make costumes. Art is one of the most rewarding experiences for me because it's both calming and grounding, and it leaves me with something to be proud of. My favorite activity is creating, no matter the medium; it's what makes me feel most like myself. Each time I put pencil to paper, paintbrush to canvas, needle to fabric, and so on, I feel free to explore the depths of my imagination, learning just as much about myself as the work I'm creating.

This portfolio represents work made between 2022 to 2026 — pieces I'm proud of, pieces I'm still thinking about, and pieces that opened doors I didn't expect.
